in france, do you need to have a 50 cc motor scooter licensed. i am trying to find a way to be motorized around the french cities there. if not, how about a motorized bicycle or moped. Just trying to avoid the cost and hassle of liscence, insurance, shipping bike etc. figure i can by a used scooter for 500 euro and ride it!

what do you mean by "licensed" ?

driving license : under 125 cc, no need "bike" license if you have a car license.

insurance : all bikes need one, 50 cc and above, it's compulsory.

ownership paper called "carte grise" : all bikes need one, 50 cc and above, it's compulsory.
