Some years ago a friend who had traveled from the U.K. to France had his motorcycle impounded by the police until he was able to produce his registration document for the machine.

Last year another friend I was traveling with was not permitted to enter Romania from Hungary because he did not have with him the registration document for his motorcycle.

Back in the 80s another friend and I were crossing into Morocco. He also had not bought his bikes registration document. I managed to convince the border official that his MOT certificate was a temporary registration doc and we got through. It was a close call and I doubt that one could get away with it these days.

As far as I am aware it is a requirement for all the riders of foreign registered vehicles to carry their vehicle documents.

Get used to carrying your Documents always!

I agree !!

In Europe you must show your vehicle registration and driving Licence when you get stopped by police or when they ask for it at the border ( and in Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania.... ) they definitely do.

If you have no vehicle documents you need a lot of time because then they check if it is stolen and afterwards you get a fine for not having the papers with you......
And it is even possible that they stop your driving unless you can show your papers.

From experience living in the Balkans, any time you leave or enter any of the Balkan countries you will be asked to produce reg certificate, if you don't have, border control will not allow you entry.

Also entering EU country, border control will ask for reg cert.

Bosnia, you will need green card, again no entry if you don't have. I believe Montenegro is the same.

I've never been asked to produce insurance or license anywhere in the Balkans or Eastern Europe. But always have with me.

Yup , when entering any of the Balkan states u will have to produce a V5 . As for travelling without it , I hope u have a large wallet as pretty much most European countries except the UK require u to have all ur docs on you whilst driving..........expect a very large on the spot fine and most likely vehicle confiscation if u r tugged and the officers decide to pay the exact letter of the law .
