Denmark, Sweden ,Latvia and Lithuania - August 2012 any tips and maybe a meetup?

Hi.
I'm planing a trip from London through Hamburg (where i meet my mate) to Denmark take a bridge to Sweden from where we gonna eventually (stockholm) cross to Latvia or maybe even Estonia then we'll move south to Poland and back .
I'm looking for some tips on good places to visit on the way and maybe some local ride meet-up. If you live somewhere on our way and fancy showing us some good roads and sights, give a shout! Thx Martin

Hi Martin,

If you pass through Antwerp(en) in Belgium, send me a message or so, you can stay with us for a night, have a garage or meet or...

Anyways, for your Latvia part, definitely stay a day in RIGA, it's a great city with some interesting things to visit. Be sure to go to the "latvia oppression museum"; it's the ugliest building in the city centre, can't miss it and the enlish tour is good and cheap!
We did it a few weeks ago on our 65 day Scandinavian-EU-Russia trip and we enjoyed it very much.

Seb

If you like abandoned cities go to Skrunda in Latvia. Skrunda-1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (you can pass the gate at the left of the main entrence. If you are in Skrunda city drive north 3km and go left next to the bus stop (you'll see an old, not used, tarmac road).
I'm afraid it will not be abondoned for much longer any more (saw ekskavators).

Pass as well Trakai castle in Lithuania (not far from Vilnius). The castle itself is nothing too special but the scenery is very beautiful.

In Vilnius I would definately go to the kgb museum Museum of Genocide Victims - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

If you need a place to stay in Vilnius you could send a pm. As well a friend of mine had a nice guest house for bikers where you could stay cheap GUEST HOUSE IN TRAKAI, LITHUANIA | Enduro Lithuania

An interesting natural diversion in Lithuania is the Coronian Spit. A nature reserve of sand dunes and trees on a narrow length of land, sometimes a few hundred yards/metres wide, with the Baltic Sea on one side and a lagoon on the other.

There are regular cheap ferries from Klaipeda that take about 15 minutes. Unless you have a Russian Visa and continue south to Kaliningrad, you will have to retrace your route to Klaipeda.
