Denmark Camping

Hi I am thinking of going to Copenhagen for christmas after seeing the price of hotels I think I will try and camp. I have a Toyota pickup and am going to try and make some sort of camper for the back I will also bring a tent.
Any recomdations for campsites near Copenhagen or hostels.
Thanks

There is a campsite, not far from the city that you can access via the railway using the 'Copenhagen Card' that is a reasonable price and last (I think) up to three days. This gives you free transport, rail, bus etc. for the region of Copenhagen and goes out as far as the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, well worth a look. Trouble is, can't remember the name of the campsite or where is was ! Get in touch with the motorcycle clubs in Denmark, they will help. Try a web search.

Yes, accomodation prices in Denmark are extortionate. Camping is a good option. There are a few camping places listed here (under "campingpladser", copy the addresses into Google Maps to get an idea where they each are).

If you have a camper you can park it wherever legal and sleep in the back. The police can only ask you to move on if you put things outside your vehicle (eg chairs, table, dog bowl, etc).

Accomodation prices in Denmark are not "Extortionate" they are relative, as they are the world over.

Try looking at Danhostel...Hostelworld...or Couchsurfers.

Beware that we have a lot of snow here at the moment but the majority of the roads are passable as I type this. More snow is expected but the Danes are very good at keeping the traffic moving.
