Cycle routes along the rivers and canals of west London

Can anyone with experience of cycle routes along the canals and rivers of London confirm whether or not I can cycle from the Grand Union canal to Basingstoke following canals, the Thames, the river Wey and the Basingstoke canal for all or most of the way?

I can’t help directly but the local council in Derby produces a map of cycles routes, including canal towpaths, for round here and Birmingham does same for there. Have you tried contacting the Mayor’s office or Sustrans?

Some choices here for Sustrans maps

And some for TfL are here

I’ve walked bits of the various waterways on that route over the years and not had an issue, and certainly seen people cycling but whether it’s cyclable and retains cyclable status the whole way I don’t know.

This cycling world forum suggests it is:

Thanks for your replies, I have had it confirmed on the Lonely Planet forum that I can cycle the whole way along the waterside.
