Custom metal fab for crude-but-functional backrest/sissy bar?

1 Attachment(s)
Hi there!

I need to add backrest ("sissy bar") and basic luggage options to my 2000 Kawi GT550, but the aftermarket for this bike is...zilch. Nada. Riding two-up for the next 6 months, gotta have something!

I was hoping somebody here could point me toward a person/company/service/etc in Ireland (preferably near Galway) that could grab a bit of metal and bend/drill/weld into a quick, functional sissy bar, and side luggage bits, on a budget. Going to ask at the local hardware store tomorrow, but figured I'd ask here as well! :)

Backrest:
Nothing fancy or special, just something we can strap a pad onto, and safely lean against. Bike has a really solid, metal rear luggage rack with bolt points, should make things fairly simple, I hope.

Luggage:
I'd like to strap my small drybags (20L) onto either side of the bike, requiring a small brace to be attached for them to strap onto/lean against. This way they won't interfere with my wife's legs (she is, erm, vertically challenged).

I've attached a highly technical drawing of the intended result :D

Thanks for any help!

I would look for something you could adapt that's for another bike on ebay or someware, failing that the old plastic chairs with the black metal tubed frame and cut to suit .

Much much easier to convert one.

Go on ebay and search for

"RENTEC Rear Rack".

There are LOTS !!!!!

Sorry, I've been off riding and forgot to post an update! We stopped by Motofeirme in Belgooly, and Martin welded up a custom, one-of-a-kind back rest that looks straight outta Mad Max :D Love it, works perfect.

Thanks for the sugggestions!
