Croatia Question
 

I will be travelling from Montenegro up to Croatia then Slovenia. Looking at a map it looks like Croatia is split in two by Bosnia.

Since a visa for Bosnia is such a pain in the ass I wish to avoid going through it. Is it possible to travel all the way from the south of Croatia to the north without having to go through Bosnia? Taking a ferry is not a problem we just want to avoid Bosnia.

No visa necessary to cross that part. It's a pretty informal processs, you just get waived through. It's a quick transit through a very narrow part of Bosnia, and that part was established after the war to ensure that Bosnia was not a landlocked country. Tons of tourists heading back and forth to Dubrovnik go through there all the time.

i passed through this border crossing in August with no problems. In the Balkans you will get asked for your passport, registration documents and green card insurance (insurance can be bought at each border but it is far easier and cheaper to have a green card). Lots of campsites usually at the waters edge. Dubrovnik is definately worth a visit.

Yeah,blink and you will miss it !Although I did get pulled in at a radar speed trap there(so be warned) and was surprised to be talking to a Bosnian policeman.Very nice man too,he let me off !
If you have time for a bit of R&R,just before you hit that bit of Bosnia you can head out on that peninsular part and get ferry over to Korcula.
Shame you need a visa for Bosnia as it is a very pleasant country to ride through.

Yes it suck. I would like to go to Bosnia. Since I travel on a South African passport I need a visa for pretty much any country that doesn't border on South Africa.

So from Turkey to Slovenia I would need a total of 7 visas for the route I would like to take.

And some of these countries make it real difficult to get a visa like Bosnia. My finance on the other hand has a Swiss Passport and she doesn't need a single one.

I read now that if I have a valid Schengen visa I can go to Macedonia and Montenegro without getting a visa for them. Do someone know if there are any other countries in the area that works this way?

I have passed this border 3 or 4 times. Normally they wave you through. There is also a ferry from dubrovnik to split I believe.

If you look down the bottom, somebody got an email from the embassy saying
'"Referring to your e-mail message dated 16 August 2007, please be informed that according to the Agreement on a free transit through the territory of the Republic of Croatia to and from the Port of Ploce and through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Neum from the 22 November 1998 on the International border crossing Klek-Neum and Zaton Doli - Neum there is no border control for the foreigners who are transiting without stopping (by using the green track) through the Neum corridor"

You just pass coastal Bosnia for Croatia as transit passenger.

No worry there :thumbup1:

If you are in transit you even dont need to stop at that border
