COVID19 Collateral - May Need Europe Bike Transport

Hi Everyone,

In these days of COVID19, it is not at all clear when I'll be able to get back to Europe to grab a Tiger 800 I have in Europe, and so I need some advice or suggestions. Last fall 2019 I put the bike into winter storage in Munich, DE. The plan was to return at the end of this month April 2020 for extended travels eastbound. That is not happening.

The bike is normally garaged just outside Tours, FR so I'm beginning to ask myself how to get it back to Tours from Munich once the borders re-open and some semblence of travel becomes possible - IF it becomes necessary? What's driving this? The moto storage company is telling me they would like to see it out of the way now that summer is on it's way. Ugg...

So, does anyone know of any truck shipping transport within Europe? Does anyone have any other suggestions if I must move the bike? Right now, my hope is to leave it be and return to grab in September. Fingers crossed!

Thanks all and stay heathy .......... bier

Hi Mike.
The border isn't totally sealed off between Germany and France -- and vice versa.
It is for tourists but truckies still ply that route, although I suspect their number has decreased.
A shipping agent should be able to get it from A to B.
Unless you already know where to garage it near Tours be aware that most businesses are shut tight here in France.
Hope that helps.
L.

I was just saying in another thread... you need to find a bike transport frame - maybe the storage company knows who rents them locally - and then it can go on any truck, no different from a europalette. (And the frame can return back to the renter on the next truck.) You just need to find someone there who knows how to do it. Maybe call the local office of DSV or another big European trucking company.

Hi Mike, perhaps you can find someone there to ride it to Tours and pay their travel back, or vice versa? I'd offer but the borders are likely to be closed for some time yet.

One cannot travel in France right now.
At least not until May 11th.
Lockdown has just been extended.
