Calais - UK : Ferry / Tunnel

Anyone got any current info or advice regarding returning to UK via Calais Ferry or Tunnel?

Has anyone run thorugh on a motorcycle?

Latest reports are that roads are being blocked by tree branches and bricks.

I live in East Kent very close to the Channel Tunnel. Local news is that the road is clear although you'll want to fill up with fuel in the UK as a lot of the northern French petrol stations have run dry due to a strike. There's a lot of talk about migrants and battles with the police etc. but that's mostly media hype and away from the main roads. You should be fine on two wheels.

.

Use Dunkerque as a departure port.
It is far better than Calais, being quieter with modernised facilities.

The best place to find prices is on the website of which ever you prefer. Prices vary depending on what time of crossing. Also the champagne buffet is extra but well worth the extra so I'm told:thumbup1:

**update**

To keep this post updated for UK Riders heading to the Continent....

Went through a few weeks back - no issues. You can see where there have been issues (rocks thrown onto roads but swept off by the authorities). No difference to a normal sailing.. still about the £25-£30 for a one-way sailing on a weekday early morning.

Coming back however did not feel friendly at all! Armed French Military Police everywhere at Cherbourg Ferry Terminal inspecting anything big enough to hold a person/persons.

Tunnel was virtually deserted when we came back through it from France last night. No police (other than in the passport offices), no army, no migrants and almost no passengers (only us and the biker gang in a different lane ).

No issues for me either on the 6th September.

I went through with my 8-year-old daughter in August. I used the Channel Tunnel. There were no problems. I booked in advance and provided the advance passenger information so there was a fast check in too!

The motorway was clear, but I was travelling when it was light.

Used the Tunnel on 16th & 24th of September, pre-booked and no issues at all. Normal checks at the passport control and the roads were clear in the morning.

Cheers

That "jungle" camp is huge now! Tents caravans and more. But all looked quite as we went passed 7 Oct. 2016.
