Burgas in Bulgaria 2014
 

Looking at going down there next year. As I've just come back from one of my trip's with in the last week. Rent a flat for two week and take that amount of time to go and come back. Two sharing will make cheap hotel's cheaper. But I'm not apposed to strapping a tent on the back of the bike.

I rode from Switzerland to Burgas (then onwards to Turkey) a couple of years ago. I spent 4 days in Burgas and found it to be a very pleasant and well-kept city.

I made a post here in the forum about my experience (generally quite good) of riding through Romania - here is a link to it: Notes from a September 2011 ride through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Greece.

I don't think I would feel comfortable camping out in Romania, though. There are a lot of people who are not doing so well (in other words, they have empty bellies), and that creates security concerns. There is also quite a problem with feral dogs in Romania, particularly in the cities. Bulgaria did not appear to me to suffer from either of these problems, and Burgas itself looked like a nice, prosperous, up-and-coming city.
