Best time to travel to Norway
I've just moved to Belgium, and I'm contemplating a Scandinavia trip for next year.
Which would be the best summer month to travel to Norway? (including North Cape) Thanks in advance V. |
Mid May to mid September.

I have been 2 times in Norway, both in August...and both the weather was cold and rainy in the fiords area.
The next time I plan a trip to Norway will be in June; as far as I know, it is the best month. |
Now!

My experience is that you can get 'changeable' weather in Norway over the summer. But I've been there in June/July and had no really 'bad' weather.
Personally I would look at being right in the north around mid June to maximise the amazing 'midnight sun' experience. |
Be aware, though, that some mountain passes might be closed until late June.

Yes, a bit exceptional this year...

Hi all
I travelled to Scandinavia from Normandy (F) in 2013 , i think the best time is june (except for this year) anyway , june is my favorite month ,usually nice weather , longer daylight and not too many tourists on the road (specially in Nordkapp) mosquitos are not to many yet, flowers are at their best and if you want to see the sun bouncing on the horizon (unlimited of course) this is the the best month.
I had wonderful weather on my way up via DK S and Lapland but a bit more rainy on the Atlantic road down to the westland , but don't worry you will enjoy it a LOT (don't forget your fishing gear) Ride safe and cool Roger |
Thank you all for your input!!!
Professionally speaking late June is a good time, so I guess I'll start planning for that time of year. All the best, Victor |

Hi,
Im planning to ride the Scandinavian this Summer 2016 (21 July till 5 sep) . I make an estimation of about 45 days starting from Amsterdam ride up to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Amsterdam. Free and easy. Will camp mostly and want to do some fishing too. From my readings the weather may not be on my side so I am prepared for it. Any advises and not to miss places information are most welcome. Im on two up on a 2008 KLR 650. Amzah |
