Belorussian Border
Normally I cross at Terrespol, this time we tried Slawatycze. It's actually the second time we have tried this border (located just south of Terrespol).
It is much quicker and seems less admin heavy than terrespol, although as it's smaller it's not so tourist helpful (relatively speaking, Terresspol isn't that helpful!!) so a bit of language knowledge is useful. |
Worth mentioning: Belarus just announced a unilateral visa waiver for OECD countries, including basically all of the EU. So far it's going to be valid for arriving by air at Minsk Airport only, but hopefully it will be extended to the road crossings too.

Does anyone know if a Transit visa can be used to cross Belarus from Poland to Ukraine by Motorcycle, i.e. auto-tourism...?
48 hours will just be enough for me to stop in Brest, ride to Mazyr, and then exit south into Ukraine. I believe that a Transit visa doesn't require all of the supporting Tourist Voucher stuff that a full 90 day tourist visa requires...? However, whenever Transit visas are mentioned it seems to be in relation to train travel rather than automotive. Thanks :) |
Nah, the transit visa is absolutely meant for car/bike travel. Lots of people going from e.g. Latvia to Ukraine with those. You can definitely go Poland to Ukraine.
Other than the usual stuff like photos, questionnaire etc., the requirements seem to simply be that you have insurance, and have the documents that would entitle you to enter the next country. |
I'm looking into travelling to Belarus next year so thanks for the heads up about the Slawatycze crossing.
I just wanted to ask. When applying for a visa do your dates have to be specific? Like if I said I was arriving on the 26th but ended up breaking down and couldn't get there till the 27th would that create a problem? Any advice appreciated as always. |
The transit visa is valid for 48 hours from the moment you cross the Belarussian border. If you arrive at the first border crossing later than the visa's start time, that's no problem.

Ok thanks
