Go for it!
Hi there,
Don't worry about your lack of riding experience... I passed my test and 3 months later was riding around Europe. Riding a bike in Europe is easy! I'd suggest setting yourself a rough route which your happy to change as you go, when you find somewhere you want to see more off, when you meet people who will suggest places to visit or like others have said will end up being great hosts for the evening. On our trip last year some of our best memories are with people which we meet in places that we had no intention of going to! Maybe plan a route with 1 or 2 city's aswell as smaller towns and villages so that you get a more rounded feel for each country. Ferry's from Esbjerg (Denmark), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Zeebrugge (Belguim) all go to England. Zeebrugge also goes to Scotland but is REALLY expensive! If you decide to book with DFDS here is link which will get you 10% off! Special offers for Motorcycle News - DFDS Seaways Have fun! Beej |
Steve is right!
On bike trips when I've literally needed to get from A to B fast I've used the Autobhan and it is a soulless experience. Apart from being on the opposite side one motorway/freeway/autoroute/autobhan looks like the next. As I believe Ted Simon said the real joy comes when you stop. The best journey's Ive had are when you take it easy and take time to talk to people and explore a little. Nailing it around Europe in a mad dash is no fun. http://www.everywherevirtually.co.uk/ev_logo_banner.gif |
Hi! For me it isn't 'can you do 500km per day' but rather 'do you want to 500km a day'?! Firstly, the bike can definitely do it, but it will be tiring and so as you travel I think your enjoyment will reduce. My view is 'chill' and try to do fewer capitals in this trip, relax and just enjoy being on your bike and FREE!!! You can always do more capital cities next year ... and the year after that ... and the go to Africa, India or Mongolia!!! Travel safe. Simon
