Aix - en - Provence
Hi guys,
Just a quick question, in a weeks time I'm in the Provence for the week. Can anyone recommend excellent ride-outs, around 200 kms per day ... I know the area a little and will certainly make it to Cassis. Or rides to places of interest... This might be a question for Peter...... Kind regards Matt |
hello, check out with alain who lives in Sisteron, he knows the area very well (but his english is poor) : http://www.provence-moto-rando.org/
happy trails, |
Always rising to a challenge:
Mt Ventoux Montagne de Luberon, both North Gorges du Verdon Sisteron (huge citadel, have to admit to my shame I've only seen it in passing) Loop: Castellane, Gorges de Daluis & Gorges du Cians, Entrevaux (another impressive fort by Vauban and a private bike museum, free) and on a clear day my favourite: St. Auban - Sigale - Pont de Miolans - St. Antonin - Ascros - East on the D27 - Toudon - up to the Summit of Mt. Vial (a 10 minute hike, 360° view of Alps and coast). Leave very early for this one, the roads are very slow. Expect debris and other obstacles, especially in spring. I'm going back there Monday... |

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted......
Looking forward to the break |
Back from the trip and just wanted to share, great ride out of Aix on the D10 direction Vauvenargues and then onto Trets .... got totally lost out the back of Trets up some mountain dirt track !!
Or at about 150k take the Paul Cezanne (famous artist) route, from the city centre, its direction public swimming pool. The route is sign posted, plenty of places to stop take in the view or go walking. Very much a favourite for the local bikers ... I was blown away by plenty of local superbikes..... whatch out for sheep in the road !! You can always finish the trip with a visit to his gallery / workshop in the centre of Aix. Also try a ride out to the Paul Ricard Race Circuit, great roads, great views nothing for the public to see at the circuit ... Then down to the coast, there are some very nice spots... Enjoy Kind regards |
