Adriatic Coast Countries
 

Hi People
Has Anybody Travelled Down The Adriatic Coast (slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herz. , Montenegro, Albania) And Then Into Greece On A Gb Or Eu Registered Bike Recently? Can Entry Requirements For The Above Be Taken Care Of As You Go, Or Should Any Documentation Be Sorted Out In The Uk First? Any Good Routes (travel Time = March)?

Hi, travelled this route North in the summer although we went through greece, Buglaria, Macedonia into Albania (great trail riding in these countries) and then up the coast. Roads from Montenegro were of good quality.
Our green card insurance covered us for all these countries and saved both time and money. Andy B

For most of those countries the "entry requirements" consist of riding up to the border (overtaking everyone else if necessary) , smiling and then getting waved across.

You will however need valid insurance. if you're from the UK you probably have to work out how to get hold of a green card, or buy insurance at borders (very expensive) . There's tons of information about this here...just waiting to be searched for....

Green card did us Aussie in 2008 for Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia.

Border into Bosnia was the only slight hassle as its non-EU and the officials aren't up to EU standard.

As others have said, a green card (make sure it's valid for all the countries you wish to visit - this may not be the case by default) and valid vehicle documentation plus a passport is all that is required. Apart from that it's a breeze and very beautiful too.

For a large part I found the roads and landscape to be much more attractive further inland than along the coast. People are friendlier, prices a lot lower and roads generally emptier than the main tourist trail along the Adriatic, but your mileage may vary depending on which time of the year you go.

The only potential troubles are getting robbed by gypsies when wild camping in the Albanian mountains (happened to every single traveler I know who wild camped there), and entry/exit confusions if you visit Kosovo in the wrong order. I.e. if you enter Serbia via Kosovo, you might have trouble getting out of Serbia via another border as having come from Kosovo you will lack the entry stamp in your passport ;-)
