Windows?

Hi all

I have to fit the windows next and not sure if top hinge or sliding are best. I like the poly-vision as the bubble is on the inside, and top hinge means you can have them open and keep the rain out, could be useful in Africa during the rainy season.

In fact I can't see any advantage to sliders as you only get half the opening area. Any thoughts?

For the reasons you mention Id go with the top hinge, best in the rain and when its roasting hot you want as much ventilation as possible, sliders will not be as good and depending on the design/brand over time you will get fine sand/dust in the sliding channels, which is a PITA to clean out. Top hinge windows with removable bug screens are the way to go.

I can see clearly now

I have top hinged windows and I'm happy with them, but I'll give two advantages of sliding:
1) you can drive with them partly open.
2) You can have external security shutters on sliding windows and unfasten them from the inside.

If you don't know what I mean I'll look up some examples: Steve Wigglesworth has a nice design (he wrote the new Haynes manual)
