Questions about Duro

Since I've never even seen a Duro for real, I have some questions:

How are they to drive?
To me it looks strange with a flat floor in the cabin for such a truck, but I think that's normal in passenger cars.
Automatic gear might be nice when driving over obstacles offroad, but how about engine breaking going downwards?

For offroading I suppose the 6x6 is best due to shorter wheelbase (than 4x4L) and more wheels.
But they are also longer (for better and worse) and more expensive.
My goal will not be to cross Sahara, but crossing Iceland etc. Thus I suppose 4x4 will be good enough.
If I one day find I want to visit Sahara, will I then be able to fit bigger tyres (eg. 335/80R20)?

How are they to maintain?
Many places to replace oil?
Hard to get access to diffs etc placed above the axles?
Expensive parts?

According to an article on Wiki, Duro II used by the military have so much electrical problems that they have to have two vehicles, not one as intended.
Is this true?
Does it also apply to Duro I?

It's a Duro II.
I've read that they're prone by electrical faults.
Looking at the price doesn't make it more interesting unless you need the load capasity.
