Vehicle practicalities

On to something more practical: Vehicle preparation. I have two problems that I would like to gather some opinions on:

First of all: Where to put a guide? We are two persons and the landcruiser only has the two front seats. I'm thinking of putting up some kind of folding seat in the middle behind the two front seats or sideways. But I don't want it to use to much space as the seat is likely to be used only occasionally. Do you know of other solutions? Will a guide require a plush and comfortable seat or be happy sitting on some crates?

Then: extended fuel tank v.s. lots of jerrycans. For some stretches we will require lots of fuel (200+ l). I'm considering an underbody fuel tank extension, but this is a) very expensive and b) means you have to put the spare tyre somewhere else. Jerrycans on the other hand have the disadvantage that you will need to carry a lot of them, they may leak etc. Any opinions on this debate?

Thanks!
Michiel.

Hi Michiel, a guide will take take what's given and a TLC is pretty wide.

Re tanks, I'm sure its discused on this forum. IME, unless you plan regular long-range runs, jerries are by far the cheapest, most versatile and most convenient solution. With good seals there is no reaon they should leak and they are readily sellable down there.
