tyre compressors buy one get one free
 

I was looking for a decent tyre compressor and found an advert for Truck air compressors from Alfred Murray

They have a special offer on at the moment, buy one get one free! they cost £78.14 inclusive of delivery. They aren't he fastest compressor in the world, but they have a duty cycle of 9 hours!! Its thanks to their fan mechanism, so for airing up a lot of tyres they may be quicker than some more expensive compressors that need a breather, and of course you've got two of them. (also gives you a spare if one breaks) They come with a 5 year warranty and certainly look fairly solid.

I've got one and it works - not fast but it works and I've used it for the past two years so as a cheaper alternative to a Vair or an ARB I can recomend it, esp if you get two for one!

I've seen others that didn't work, and if it doesn't work, it's a bulky useless bit of kit.

Personally I preffer the stronger ones, and they are getting cheaper (just bought a 99€ 2cyll thing that goes x-times faster and feals much more HD)

Hows it going ? - is the new one any good ? im still looking for a better set up - my little electric compressor has given up finally !
Been thinking about putting an Aussie 'Endless air on an engine belt in the 90 - though its still a few hundred pounds to get one and get it sent over - but 8cfm is pretty quick !!!

Doin Fine. Time to get out though. Winter is too long this year I guess.

The compressor I bought is a little bit slower then the viar replica I had before, but not much, and more then enough for the lada. Didn't went trough serious endurance testing, but I think for normal use on one car it's just fine.

How're you doing? Living in Canada? Or GBR?

He also has a viair replica which is around 170€ I think, and has the same specs as the viair. Only difference is that it's made in Taiwan.

Hi Rob - that looks pretty good for the price I must say - Have you used an air cylinder again or just straight to the tyre ? how long to raise tyre pressure on Lada and is it 100% duty or does it need cooling off after a few minutes ?

Living in UK still for the moment, but will head out to Canada in a few months - time for a change I think !

Hi Rob and Grif how ye gettin' on, have to agree on the truck air Aaron and Steph had one and it broke before leaving the UK, it was replaced and the replacement broke the second time they went to use it (on the way back from the festival au desert) my viair is still going strong and saved the day!!!

Didn't mount a tank (yet?)and I didn't take measurements on airing up the lada, but that's 13 130/80 tires or so, and these go quick, Don't know how that compares to the disco, but I think performance is close to what the viair does (within a few seconds/tire I guess)

The box says:

Which I think is enough for use on 1 car (if necessary, you can always add watercooling isn't it?).

They do sell them premounted on a tank for 150€ also. Looks neat. The one they had at the shop when I was there was a 220V motor though.

well, the truck airs were pretty crap! if they worked it was a bonus, they couldn't be relied upon. the switch on one was intermittently faulty and neither of them coped too well with trying to air up in a sand storm. when they worked they were good, but I wouldn't want to rely on them. fortunately we also had 2 footpumps.

Interesting comments about the Truck Air, I was going to buy one a couple of years ago. I bought the Viair in the end. It has been good but had a problem with the switch recently. It was in the back of the car where the dogs sit, water from them had got in and corroded the switch. Easy to clean out but took quite a few minutes. I was going to mount it under the bonnet, had second thoughts now.
