Poss/easy to change 110 right to left hdrive?

Perhaps a strange one but... Is it possible, easy and/or worthwhile to change a right hand drive Defender 110 to a left hand drive?

It would be possible, don't know about easy though.

You would need to move:
steering box
relocate drag links, steering damper
steering column
pedal box
servo
brake lines
heater
handbrake
assorted cables/wires for heater, speedo, electrics
new hoses for brake servo, heater

Sure there are a few other things to bear in mind, but that lot would put me off unless I was doing a full rebuild anyway

^^^^^ What he said...

certainly do-able, but a fiddly job.

don't forget also, if you wanted to do a *proper* job, to change the headlights, and wipers (as they sweep the other way..) in fact, i think you'd have to do the headlights as the motor wouldn't fit into LHD dash trim.

and the clultch pipe too.

easier maybe, to get yourself a complete LHD bulkhead and strip the bits off (or swap the whole bulkhead over)

Most European (UK in Europe yet?) made vehicles have always been built for both LHD and RHD markets.

Firewalls are usually common, most have the pressings to accept pedals, etc.

The biggest time consumer is either swapping the wiring loom or rewiring from right to left.

You'll also need a LHD front hub with all the steering lever bits attached.
And a complete dashboard, the plastic one is "handed".

Its not something that is easy or cheap.

I've done two conversions on Mercs.

Unless you live in Europe why bother, your profile does not list which country you live in.

Travelling around Europe in a RHD vehicle for a few months is`nt a problem.

Dont know where you are or are going but just in case in Iquique (northern Chile) is the import heaven for used japanese vehicles. As south america is left hand drive there are workshops specialized in transferring RHD to LHD.
