Parabolics on a TLC 60/75 (not S3 LR)
... in a Sahara/overland situation - anyone got anything good to report?
I'm getting the impression they are nice "town & country' springs but don't really deliver overland (HD, comfort and articulation) any better than a good semi elliptic set up (harsh though it is when empty). Chris S |
Hi Chris,
i also have my doubts. Met a (short wheel base and not very heavy loaded)LR in Africa who'd left holland with brandnew TIC parabolics. In Kenya he was send a new set as they were broken. In Moçambique they were broken again. I have the original leafsprings on mij PZJ75 and after 300.000 african and south american kilometres had twice a broken leaf (never the motherleaf)which probably was caused by a malfunctioning shock. marcel |
hi
I have a set of TIC parabolic in my LW for about 3 years. I'm very happy with it. I did a few expeditions and lots of trial events in Portugal. They are much, much better then the original, giving a excellent (comfort) ride, and much more articulation. Last year I went 1 month do mauri. The LW was very heavy but even like that it behaved very hell. I can compare the behavior because the other jipes were a SIII with standard springs and a 90 defender. I have 2 springs at the front and 3 (not 2+1) at the rear. For trials I use only 2 at the rear. ------------------ best regards from Portugal bernardo feio lightweight |
