I've only ever bought 2 inverters. both about 5 years ago. one 12v one 24v. small units bought off ebay for less than 50 quid new.the 24 volt has been from -20 to +45 in sand, snow and everything in between and rattled to beyond my endurance on african corrugations. both are still going strong.I can't imagine ever buying an expensive inverter. if your worried about the consequences of inverter failure at this price I would buy 2. even expensive inverters are notoriously unreliable.

on the landcruiser I did instal a 12v socket to go with the 24v one, just took the feed from one battery. there is a theoretical problem of balancing the battery draw but in reality the amounts are so small it's not an issue
