Electric fans
 

Hi all,

I've been running my 3.5V8 rangie in the UK with twin Kenlowe electric fans mounted directly to the radiator via their special 'zip' ties. It's been fine in the UK but I'm wondering if, on heavily corrugated African roads, it'll be a problem? Will the weight of the fans cause the 'zip' ties to damage the radiator? I'm intending to re-fit the standard fan and let the electric fans become the backup.

hi b , fitting the std fan & mounting the kenlows on some brackets in front of the rad,would be my choice, (are the kenlows push or pull?) also leave the engine ticking over if it gets to hot,as turning it off increases engine temp, not good, esp with alloy engine gary...

Yes, the fans are push so could indeed be mounted on a bracket in front of the radiator. I was thinking along the same lines, so I'll have to make a bracket.

I'd never dare to drive with a fan stuck to the radiator with a piece of plastic string. In Africa you'll soon lose the fan, radaiator, and any respect for the company that has invented this engineering disaster.

I'm not impressed by the silly Kenlow zip tie system; I feel it would do too much damage to my shiny new radiator in the rough stuff.
What other pusher fans on the market? Making up bracketry is not difficult, just boring.
