Diesel Fridges

Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a diesel stove and wondered if anyone has used them on a long expedition? Something like this is what I have in mind:

http://www.c-dory.com/22%20diesel%20stove.htm

I see the pros and cons like this:

Pro:
Easy to get hold of fuel
No naked flame
Easy to clean
Reliable ?

Con:
Takes some time to warm up
Ceramic surface could break
"computer controlled"
Reliable ?

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Nick.

I've no idea why I said fridges. Was thinking cold when I meant hot!

Or maybe it's just Friday afternoon!

Apart from all the pro's and con's for Diesel; if you are planning to travel through Africa I suggest you use campingaz equipment. You can fill up almost everywhere (Cairo, Luxor, Khartoum), or even better, change you bottle (like we did in Dar es Salaam for Example).

Further south you can also consider to cook on wood/charcoal, most of the time available for free. Try to get one of these storm kettles to boil all your water, that will save a lot of gas.

Our consumption was like 2.75 kg gas per 6 weeks (2 persons, cooking something like 5 to 6 times per week).
