Oil drain plugs were installed to some models when I was in the army as they were delivered without them. Which models those were I can't remember right now. Nor is it important as I never said that none of the russian trucks had the plug. I said that some of them.

Hello Mr. Camel,

I have owned a Gaz 66 for over two years now and in the beginning a had a few problems with it mainly due to rubber components not withstanding the coarse of time, seals, tyres, brakes etc.
After replacing certain parts, most of which are available through various sources I now find the vehicle very reliable and fun to drive and over the last couple of years clocked up quite a few miles driving hundreds of miles at a time with no problems.

Please find a couple of sites you might find rewarding.

Cheers,
Steve
