any body know

Hi any body know what would happen if you ran a 24 volt compressor on 12 volts

thanks mark

I vote it should run slow and may not get up to as high a pressure as if it were on 24v. Should not cause any problems/damage etc although can't guarantee anything! Try it? N

Thats about the size of it
Won't do any damage but won't work very efficiently

cheers

Theoretically it should run at 50% speed. Practically it may well run as low as 30%. Depending on the compressor design depends on whether it will even get upto pressure - some of the small compressors just rely on their speed to build up pressure without having good sealing valves.

Power = Vsquared/R (R = resistance). R is constant, so 50% voltage = 25% power output = wouldn't do very much. Yes, I realize for a motor it's impedance instead of resistance; same type of equation.
