tyre bead breaker
What's the best form of tyre bead breaker to take. It has obviously got to be compact and light. Is there a special tool on the market?
I had thought of a 'G'clamp, but I think it will be too heavy for only having one purpose. Your ideas would be appreciated. Simon |
Hi Simon, I always used the sidestand to break the bead on tubeless tires. Put the tire under the sidestand and lean on the bike, usually works. The problem is resealing the bead. It takes a great volume of air to seat the bead which is almost impossible to get any where but in a tire shop, even if you put a strap around the tire and tighten it close to the rim...

A bottle jack and the bumper of a car will work if somebody with them stops to help out. Just lift the car up off the ground with the jack on the tire. Driving around with the tires flat can work too. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif
