Top Box vs. Top Bag?

Who has the gouge on using a top box versus a top bag when riding long distances two up? Bike is a BMW 1200GS...

So many guys use a bag when they ride solo, and the bag can ride on the seat and side panniers.

But how do you strap on a bag to the rear rack when two up so it is really on there solid? Thoughts?

Use Rokstraps to secure bags and you shouldn't have a problem .

ROK Straps: Safe elastic cargo straps for your motorbike, ATV, military & outdoor needs.

I also vote for Rokstraps. Top stuff and do not suffer from UV like ordinary bungees.

We used both top box and roll bags on our trip. We used bungees everywhere.

However, we stopped off at a BM dealer on the way and they gave us a bunch of nylon straps, a little like the straps you have on rucksacks, with a metal spring loaded catch. I think thesea are the ones that come with new bikes in the crates to secure all the loose bits before the bikes are assembled at the showroom.

Feed the tab through the catch and pull tight, job done. Very strong and did not slip.

Best bit was that they were free!
