Suggest me an awesome tyre solution for UK-Ouaga (with sand)

Hey folks,

I'm off on a return trip to Burkina this winter, riding from Lincolnshire. I've got some long road sections to do (through Spain, Western Sahara etc) but also want to enjoy some pistes in Morocco and Mauri on the way down.
Previously I would probably have set off on 80% road tyres (Metz Enduro 3 or Pirelli Scorpions) and carried a pair of Michelin T63s or Deserts to change into when it got too sandy not to (discarding the road tyres at that point, 'cos it's a pain to carry tyres).

I'm really tempted though by the notion of being able to do the trip on one set of tyres or, at least, only bring a replacement for one of them. Somebody therefore please suggest a wonder-tyre that will get me from the UK to Ouaga and back (at least as far as Spain) but also allow some piste bashing. Bike is a KTM 640 Adv, btw.

thanks, Andy :)

Everyone has their own choice but longevity primarily depends on how you ride. If you are prepared to bumble along at 80 kph with occasional motorway spurts to 100 kph, you'll get great life. I did UK to Senegal and back on a BMW 1200 GSA on a single set of TKC 80s, other riders manage to rip them to shreds in less than 5,000 km.

As you know, the rear tends to wear faster, so one option is to replace just that on the trip, and Moto Plus in Casablanca tends to hold a good stock, see Moto Plus for bike spares in Morocco
