How to pack your bike

In contrast to all the threads about which set of expensive panniers is better and which titanium doo-hickey we must have, I thought I'd post this little vid of some friends about to set off for Nepal. It's in Dutch, which I don't speak, so I have no idea Maika's saying. And if all you're interested in is bikes and not the work on their ruins, then fast forwards to about 1:30.

Rick's panniers are home-made, but not by him and have already been round the world a good few times and Maika's, in case you don't recognise them, are two galley units from an old airliner.

I just can't explain the musical box though.

music box, bulb horn, smiley faces everywhere and a single pannier the size of my house, yes, the Yar Yars are a bit bonkers.

this is a french VFR owners idea on how to carry a Rotweiller pillion, seen at the coupes moto legende

The galley unit panniers aren't waterproof or dust proof and all the little goodies arranged so neatly inside will be shaken loose .
Panniers aren't rocket science ,but you have to keep the weather out of them for them to be any use at all and then pack tightly to make the most use of the space and to stop the contents from shaking to pieces .

As for the Rotweiller top box/kennel..... NO WAY..... If the hound moves you'd be off over about 3 lanes !!!!!!
