Hard Bag Recommendations for BMW PD

Hello Adventurers,

I'm equipping a BMW R100GSPD for an extended tour and I'm trying to decide on which aluminum hard bags to use. I have a pair of Jesse panniers on my R80G/S and used them for 10,000 miles in South America, but I did break the right luggage mounting rack twice. The rack was easily welded, but it was a hassle and I'd like recommendations on more rugged setups. The Jesse bags also have a narrow top opening which makes loading/unloading difficult. The Touratech bags look nice, but I haven't heard anything about how strong their racks are. I have read that the Tesch mounts are very strong but the bags are several pounds heavier than Touratech or Jesse. I've read the product summaries on the GS web page but I'm looking for some personal experiences. You travellers that have used these (and other) bags, please give me your impressions on their quality, strength, and ease of use. Thanks.

There is a good overview of the German panniers at Carlos Panniers Page at http://reiseenduro.de/users/carlo/en...c/panniers.htm
