Bathmat rather than Sheepskin seat cover

a cheap suggestion, sheepskins are useless in the rain and silly expensive; copy what the peruvians do, use a bathmat! yes, the oval thing you step onto when you leave the shower, (and they are available in pretty colours)

I know a Vegan guy who uses a bathmat as a sheepskin alternative. Works for him.

They're not as comfortable though.

I've used outdoor seat covers in the past. Cheap, synthetic and comfortable.

I used sheepskins for years. But I'd rathger take my airhawk now.

I've always thought those sheepskins were a bit "emperor's new clothes" ish. They look the part, but made zero difference comfort wise for me. Airhawk is the only thing that made a significant difference in my experience.

I've always thought (lighter coloured) sheepskins looked very German. In order to avoid looking like said nationality (despite now using a German passport of convenience and then riding a bike built in Berlin ;) ) in 2000 on my rtw trip with a UK passport, when Barb at Alaska Leather in Anchorage offered me (a new) sheepskin for free, I insisted it had to be dyed black so it wouldn't show up in any pictures as the bike's saddle was black too :)

It never really made a difference in terms of comfort, other than soaking up water when riding in the rain, so meant I had a wet ar$e for longer :(

I still have said black sheep skin, nearly 25 years later. It now adorns my old beyond rat winter Transalp, hiding a huge tear in the seat :mchappy:

Today I use an air hawk. Works exceptionally well.

Can't see how a bath mat would be fit for purpose, but each to their own.

I will look at some bath mats.

I've ridden a lot on a sheepskin that has fit on several bikes. It's slightly cooler in summer, slightly warmer in winter, and in rain it's better than sitting on a wet vinyl seat.

The Sit&Fly is cooler in hot weather and in rain but it's too cool when weather dips below 15C or so. Also too thick to fit on some dual-sport seats.

Thanks for the bath mat suggestion.
