Backpack on top ?

Hello travellers.

While browsing the net preparing my trip, i was wondering about those backpacks on top. Do you guys take them all the time with you when leaving your bike for a short drink or some sightseeing ? Leaving all your stuff in just a backpack on your bike is probably not the best idea in some locations.

BTW, where do you guys put your helmet in such situations ?

Thanks in advance.

Pac Safe

Pac Safe makes a mesh that wraps around your stuff and I just found a tail pack on their website that incorporates the mesh. You just lock that to your bike and you are away. Check it out:

They seem to have really expanded their lineup since the last time I looked, now they have some dedicated motorcycle gear like helmet bags and tank bags.

PacSafe

Pac Safe sales have taken off since they started making mc specific gear.

The advantage of a back pack is that you can take off for a overnight stay if walking is the only way to get there. Also makes a day or half day hike easier. A pacsafe 25-55 litre (weights 500 grams with padlock) should cover the back pack on your bike- or your helmet, boots, jacket if you take the back pac and need to leavce your gear. They make a larger size 55l -?75l?

Some soft saddle bags and tank bags double as backpacks. Some are made in such a way that all you need to do is unzip a part, and voila, you've got yourself a backpack with straps and everything.
