Where to get tires in Panama City?
Anyone know where to get new 110/80X19" and 150/70X17" tires for a VStrom?
I'm helping out my fellow travellers from New Zealand with info and advice. They are currently in Guatemala on their way to Panama. Please reply if you have any info. jerrykap@pacbell.net or Skype, user name = jerrykap or call530-902-1670. Thanks, Jerry |
tires, costa rica, panama
hi...
i had really problems to find tires in panama city, took me two days to get to ALL(!) shops there... sometimes MPH store have big tires on stock, but only sometimes... then, potenza motos had big ones... and francisco at bavarian motos could help me out with a private contact... (i checked also the border to costa rica, if you are lucky you can finde there your size...) i recomand:::: buy tires in san jose, costa rica! more cheap! better brands, more sizes on stock!!! go to moto parts, or la motobotique! both near the building municipal at the west side of the avenida 10 |
Jerry,
If your Kiwi friends are in Guat. then they should be able to source tires there. Several decent shops carry the sizes for the Vstrom (same as GS, Tiger, Capo Nord and others) From what I've heard here on HUBB and ADV, Panama is NOT GOOD for tires. Long wait and expensive. If they can make it to Panama then they can make it to Colombia. There are plenty of tires there as well. |
Tyres Cartagena
Don't really want to revive an old thread, but FYI:
The only place I could find in Cartagena/Colombia that had 21"/90/90 tyres was the Suzuki dealer right behind the big fort (main tourist attraction) in Cartagena. US$55. 15min walk to the cheap hostel area. NONE of the other 15 shops I tried had anything in that size. |
Panama City Tyres
There is a Michelin garage just up from the BMW store, Panama City that sold me the Anakee 3 for my Super Tenere for £135.
Beware the tyre sharks, I was quoted £300+ for the same tyre at mph and Touratech. |
