Make sure your physician schools you on the anti-malarials use and effectiveness. This is a medication you want to consider seriously if you really will need it or not. Not one ADV rider who has come through Mexico whom I have met has used anti-malarials for Central and South America.
Remember, it's not the malaria here, it's the Dengue.
Funny nobody has mentioned Chagas disease. If you are a worry wart, you better add Chagas to the list!

Crossed the border at Tecate. The whole event was easy peasy. The officals couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and even though we got a red customs light (no surprise) as we went through the gate as soon as they knew that we were from the UK they simply waved us through and then explained what we needed to do and where to go to do it. :D

Is there now a banjercito at Tecate? If not, did they explain the need for one?

Yes there is. We paid for our Tourist Cards at the little glass window next to the border gates. We decided that we would sort out the temporary importation papers for the bike once we got to La Paz, as you don't need to temporarily import your vehicle when driving any part of Baja California.

(We paid using our credit card).

It's certainly not difficult to think like :palm: as we are currently in Loreto in Baja California (Sur) and the sea is gorgeous and blue and the weather sunny.

Glad to hear there's now a banjercito in Tecate. Would've saved me a trip to Mexicali last time I exited. It's a nice place to cross the border, absent a lot of traffic and hassle.

Now, last I heard you needed a TIP to travel to La Paz. There was an imaginary line somewhere enroute, past which you were supposed to have the sticker. Enforcement was mixed, but someone reported paying a steep fine a year or two back while trying to get on the boat. Maybe report back here and say more about how it goes for you....?

I think the rules must have changed since then. As well as being advised at the Tecate Banjercito that we didn't need a TIP whilst in BC but we would need to get one before getting on the ferry it is also mentioned on a number of websites including the one below:
