Currently in Gautemala and plan to ride to Cancun for a cheap flight back to the UK. I want to leave my KLR for 6 months, in Cancun, when I will return, inshallah. Anyone know anywhere safe to leave it
Secondly, anyone know where I can get tires from either in Gautamala (preferably Quitezaltenango) or en route to Canacun?

For tires in Guatemala, without going to the trouble of ordering through any of the small local bike shops and waiting several days for delivery your best bet is , on the way to Cancun, to swing through Guatemala City.
All the big four Japanese brands and BMW have large modern service departments ther e and will probably have something in stock for you . They are all clustered fairly close together south of the historic center .
Here too is another option in the guise of a large auto parts, motorcycle parts and electronics store called FPK , address is 7Av. 8-08 Zona 4.
They have a wide assortment of tires in stock at good prices. Installation and balancing is handled for them by the large Yamaha store across the street, for a reasonable fee, or you can take it to some other shop or do it yourself.
