Spanish Language Schools
 

I’m researching locations to help me learn the Spanish language as part of my first motorcycle trip into Mexico. Some locations offer “Homestay” lodging with a local family nearby their school, and this option has me very interested. I’m thinking it’s a helpful way to learn……
What I’m thinking is to cross the boarder and within the first few days, arrive at the school and do a two or three week course. Then afterwords travel around Mexico for the next month or so.

Has anyone done this? Any suggestion on locations?

At this time I’m eyeing this company; Homestay program in San Miguel de Allende

There are more language programs than you can count, scattered all over Mexico. I'd suggest that you decide where you want to spend the time--for example, San Miguel de Allende is popular for a reason, but lots of folks hate it, also with reason. Find a location which will hold your interest, then look for language schools (and if you're prone to researching thoroughly, read the reviews).

I'll add only that you may find it easier to learn Spanish in a place where less English is spoken. This would tend to rule out San Miguel de Allende, but might favor other nearby spots like Guanajuato (city), Delores Hidalgo, León, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, etc. The list is basically endless.

On the other hand, you may find it comforting to be around so many other English-speaking ex-pats, and this might be worth it even if it keeps you from learning Spanish. Mileage varies.

Any specific information I might offer dates from over a decade ago and would be misleading at best, so I hope the above is helpful.
