road conditions
Hi Brian,
The section Between fray bartolome and lanquin could be a bit rough on a big bike with luggage (rocks) and for some reason it is more km than what google map tell you For coban to nebaj no problem (20-30 km of easy dirt) beautiful road Send me a message once in Antigua, we can meet up for a few beers bier David |
How about the road from Estor to Lanquin? I ame infinito poptun treinta to figure best way to lanquin.

I took that route in 2012, so someone might have more current info , but... El Estor to the turn off to Cahabon is an easy, wide, gravel road. From there it is narrow and hilly. You will climb over a small mountain range and drop down to the Rio Cahabon, which a big steel bridge crosses. Then you'll climb again and back down to the river. Cahabon is a bigger town than I expected from the map and from there to Lanquin the road is wider and better graveled. I didn't think it was difficult, but it only rained on me a little, in wetter weather it could be slick. The Lanquin area is well worth the effort to get there. Looks like you must have spanish auto complete on there. From this route: https://andyt.smugmug.com/Other/Guat...PB211504-M.jpg https://andyt.smugmug.com/Other/Guat...PB211505-M.jpg |
