little bike in central america

I've got a bajaj 135 that I normally use for getting around town, but she's also taken me around a big chunk of colombia with no problems. However I'm new to biking and I see that everyone talks about 650's etc, can you tell me why i shouldn't drive my bike to mexico? I'm in no rush, but can you tell me if this is a stupid idea, and if so, why?

Bajaj might be tough to sort parts for in CA, if you are committed to a small bike a honda 125-150 JOB or Suzuki GN125 (the GN not the newer style -different motors and the GN comes in a "job" flavor also with big rack and great single seat) are the best choices parts available everywhere and both are bulletproof if you change oil a lot - suzuki rides better and has more power in my opinion.
I'm on a Euromot XGT200, same as Qingqi, Genesis, Pioneer, Motorrad, etc....but will set you back 3 grand in Colombia - cost 2000 in Chile hah hah :D - great bike though - copy of DR200 Suzuki

keep puttin' :scooter:

Go for it! With a small bike you obviously need to appreciate it's size when loading it, and try not to run it as if it was a big bike. I am hoping to do some trips on a YBR125 now that I've 'laid-up' my R80gs.
The link below is to a guy on an old bike doing a substancial trip, and there was a guy who rode from Argentina to Australia on a YBR, there are people out there doing RTW's etc on Postie bikes!.
Enjoy your trip.

El Salvador

It can be done , its just a matter of riding styles.
Bajaj bikes are popular here in El Salvador so I guess you should be able to get parts for it.
