Help needed in mexico!!!!!!!!

Hi
well hello to all. First of all we are 3 aussies ridding bmw r100´s through centeral and south america and presently stuck in Santiago? Manzanillo, mexico. My friend came down in town right near Manzalino mexico today, he has destroyed his handlebars, complete front brake system, throtle, oil cooler and so forth. Does anyone know of ANYone near that could help around this area? any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check the Communities page, might be someone not too far away.

You can order all the parts you need and ship them in from the USA easily. Check who is there where ever you are - (Fedex or UPS etc) and make sure the order is shipped via them.

Find any "taller" (pronounced tie-yay more or less) or workshop, in town, they'll be very happy to help and price will be very cheap for use of the shop and assistance. And you'll be amazed at what they can fix with nothing.

Note you will want genuine BMW handlebars only, as BMW bars are NOT 7/8" like all the Japanese bikes, but metric. Not worth it to try to get 7/8 bars to fit, trust me.

Although a lot of welding and bracing can fix anything... Also, the oil cooler can be bypassed with a simple connector between the two hoses or at the thermostat end. Should be carrying one anyway, as the coolers can easily get damaged, or the hoses fail, as you've discovered.

Any Japanese disk brake lever assembly can be made to work.

Best of luck,
