I rode in Mexico with a friend who is SO dependant on GPS, that he has 2 of them on his DR650. We went round and round in a city, looking for a road.....it was clearly marked. I had to stop him at a light and lead. He rode through a small village looking for a restaurant----we rode past 4, because they weren't on his gps.

Guatemala
is where I ride these days. I love to talk to people so I ask for the way, but sometimes I would love a GPS.
The reason is that you enter a village without any clue, where the way out would be. Do not expect signs or a "master"lane. You enter the village and all streets look equal to you and the exit to your next destination can be anywhere. But that's it. One tip aside: Wherever I lived in the world, the best maps I found came from amazon (use the button on horizons to enter) - NEVER in the countries. |
