Best GPS Maps for Mexico

I've spent the last while searching the archives and have not really come up with a good answer.

I have a Nuvi 885 and was about to purchase the "Garmin City Navigator Mexico" maps when I read bad reviews about them being inaccurate and missing towns entirely. !

So I came across "GPSTravelMaps" which seems good, only thing is I can't find any reviews.

This is a trip by car, just to vacation but I will be going deep to the south of Tulum towards the Belize border and so need a good map.

Can anyone recommend a good GPS map that wil load onto my Nuvi and would work well for that area (Yucatan)?
Thanks

OSM first.

As it is free .. you should first get the 'Open Street Map' for the area
Free worldwide Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap

The look at it and check that it is suitable for you in the areas you want to go to. Compare any other map to it.

+1 osm

No mapset is perfect. I venture to say they all will get you where you need to go, or close.

The free routable OSM maps are good and getting better every day due to thousands of user that add refinements to the master database every day. The OMS maps tend to be weak on indicating one way streets.

My biggest tip is to say once you have loaded the maps on your computer, be sure to transfer the "tiles" to your GPS device.

The second tip, only download the sections of OMS that you need to use in the near future. the maps will likely improve even more the next time you download them.

FYI - There are several countries in South America that are not currently supported by the Garmin NT South America...

I used OSM all over Mexico and it was mostly fantastic and very detailed. I don't remember having a single problem.
