What's inside my jerrycans?
 

I got these jerry cans with my car 4 years ago. I completely forget about them till now. I opened them to have a look inside and both of them have this silver scrunchy type of thing inside of them. I tried pulling it out but it's jammed pretty solid.

So my question is, does anyone know why/what this silver scrunchy thing is?

Some sort of leaded fuel replacement / fuel improvement charm/fetish/snakeoil ?

I think it is an anti-explosion foil - sort of a poor man's racing fuel cell. Very pretty! you could use it for impromptu christmas tinsel (especially if it's soaked in petrol and you set light to it once you've extracted it:-)

I use to know some Alcoholics they smuggelt Wine into islam countrys using jerrycans and riscing their freedom...

Heavy duty cleaning brush that got stuck?
