Shipping to New Zealand
 

Used a company called Schumacher Cargo to move my motorcycle from USA to New Zealand. A word of warning! Make sure any shipper gives you a date for departure that is real and what they will do in the way of compensation if they don’t. We dropped our DL650 off in Long Beach on 2nd September and it did not sail until 23rd, arriving late in NZ on 9th October. We have had to pay to stay in NZ doing nothing much until the bike arrives. Very frustrating, as we had planned to ride the bike around the world - not wait for it to catch up.

What was the gross cost of shipping the moto to NZ? I ask because I am thinking of shipping my Honda ST 1300 on the same route.

That's unfortunate; still, there are certainly worse places to be stuck than New Zealand. :)

The cost of shipping out was $1200 USD, plus Import cost of $300USD.
I am using the receiving events in Auckland to ship the bike to Australia, for £700 sterling. They are GT Logistics of Auckland. They are near the airport so you could stay nearby as I did to be able to call in on them.

That price of GBP 700 to ship from NZ to Oz sounds terribly expensive. Heck, I can air freight my motorcycle to Europe from Canada for that price with Air Canada.

I wonder if it might be less expensive for you to contact a household moving company (that which is, in British English, called a 'removals company') and ask them if they could include your moto in a shipment they are making?

Or, alternatively, contact any motor freight company that handles LTL (less-than-truckload) shipments, and see if they could move the bike for you.

You might already know this, but I think that Australia requires a carnet for vehicles imported for temporary tourism purposes. I don't know if NZ does (meaning, I don't know if you have a carnet already).

Have a carnet for NZ and OZ. Now in Malaysia and used it for that.
Used a guy called Ivan from a company called Bikes Abroad to fly the bike from Perth for $1900 aus, They operate from Perth and Brisbane. My advise for what its worth is to fly in one and out the other missing out the northern area completely. Unless of course you like long boring days going in a straight line and flattening your rear tyre in 40 degree heat. Not to mention the overpriced fuel and accommodation in terrible places filled with people waiting (under police escort) for the liquor stores to open, and not being able to get a drink after 7pm when bars are in lock down.
