Seam seal rain gear?

Hi all,
I've got some Coghlan's Seam Seal here that I've yet to use. Would this work on my waterproof riding gear (Frist Gear fabric) or would it wear off and make a mess of my leather suit I wear under it? I've never used it before (waiting until summer to use it outdoors) so I don't have any experience with it.

Thanks, Steve

Seam seal works well, but the fabric needs to be totally clean. Ideally it's best to seal seams when the garment is new - most PU proofed nylon outdoor gear already has its seams sealed. If the fabric is not 100% clean, or if the sealer is a bit on the thick side, the sealant eventually peals off and doesn't keep the water out! Not the best situation because the seams are normally where the water gets in......

If the sealant does this, it's messy but only in the same way that dandruff is messy; unless you put on your jacket on over your leathers while the sealant is wet, it won't affect them. A word of warning, though: it's difficult to apply (quite messy), and make sure you make the fabric look thoroughly "wet" with it, or the water will find its way in through the bubbles.......

Good luck! Stig.
