Cheap bike gear at Lidl

Dont know if its nationwide but Lidl have bike gear in on Thursday. All looks ok and nice and cheap rain suits etc. There is also the intercom set for 6 quid i got one of these a couple of years back it still works great and lets the wife nag me when i go too fast. The quality might not be the best but if you are on a tight budget its better than non bike kit. I was gona mantion the helmets they have but I know it always starts off the Helmet debate again so if youre after something take a look for yourself.

If anyone is thinking of getting a cheap helmet, the Lidl helmets are mentioned in a Helmets thread in Equipment Reviews. The consensus seem to be that they're not very good.

stuxtttr: Thanks for the heads-up, I might nip along and have a look. As you're local, Planet Bikes in Leicester is closing down and has a few HJC helmets left for £50 if you're looking, not sure what sizes though.

Cheers,
Indoors.

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately they don't do it in the London area.

Maybe next week?

Cheers ,

Hi There,

according to todays MCN the products are available from the 20th March

craig76 12 Mar 2008 19:20

I bought a pair of their gloves last time they had bike kit. The quality is actually quite good and I don't think there's anything on the market that is comparable for £12.

I also bought the £6 intercom kit. Admittedly, it's not exactly police quality but the headsets work great with VOX controlled walkie talkies.

If anyone is taking a bike on a ferry this year, if you look at the Car Essentials page, they've got a set of 4 ratchet straps for £5.99 which look very much like the ones I paid £18 for last year.:censored:

Lidl tank bag

Hi all,

I've heard good reports about the tank bag but has anyone tried to fit one to a 600 TA with the awkward, sticky-up fuel cap?

Can't really go wrong for £16.99, if it fits...!

Cheers.

I bought one of the tank bags when they had them a couple of years ago and its still going strong and like you say for £15 its all good

Photo of tankbag on bike (just the bottom half of the bag it was tooooooo big with the top on )

I also got a pair of the gloves but the first time they got wet they ended up turning inside out so I could get my hand out and that was the end of them

Is there any tankbag that fits on a 600 'Alp properly.I have borrowed a few and that fuel cap always gets in the way.

Can't really see the tankbag too well in the pic. Is it suitable for mounting as a tailpack?

It's a right pain isn't it?

Bagalux do a Alp-specific cover that will take any of their bags but it's big money, around £90 just for the cover, similar for the bag.

I think I'll invest my £17 in the Lidl bag, if doesn't fit I can always put in the for sale forum here!:thumbup1:

Hi Crusty

If it doesnt fit you can always take it back and get ur cash back. I bought the tank bag and the mag map holder but both of them blocked the view of my speedo (Intruder VL1500). Just took them back and got cash back on both.

Cheers

This week not last

Sorry its this thursday not last. I only found out when I turned up at the store.

Cheers for the reply on helmets I may check out planet bikes. That store seems to always be closing down or changing brands.

Good stuff

Can recommend the tank bags as well.

Boots are good for light city use - comfortable, cheap, wont last very long.

Chains & disk locks - brilliant - we've got six of each.

Don't bother with their waterproofs - tear too easily.

Not that I shop at Lidls, mind!
