Are Exped tents any good??

Looking for any feedback we can get in regards to Exped tents. Do you own one? What's your experience with the tent been like? Would you buy it again? Model? Thanks

To Russia and back

My best mate took his Orion to Russia when we took a trip out there a little while ago. His tent was fantastic and he had nothing bad to say about it.

He borrowed the tent from Lez at Travel-dri Plus here in the UK - it had already been all over the world, including Base Camp at Everest - but still looked almost new and was easy to put up. There simple 'little' features were what won us over - like the 90degree porch entrance.

I made a video about a range of tents - one was the Exped Orion - scrub to 4:00 in the video below to see my thoughts.

I didn`t own one myself, but some of my friends do.
Exped tents have a good reputation here in germany.
The tents are made by good quality, especially all the series with silicone coated ripstop nylon. They are not cheap, but worth i think.

Here you find some tests and pics from users:

Maybe its working in your translator ...

The last years, i traveled with a tent from Helsport (Norway).
http://www.helsport.no/en/HOME
- Ringstind 2 (small, light, minimum package
- Gimle light 2+ (more space, still small package for this size, 2 persons + riding gear)
pro:
verry satisfied, nothing to complain at all.
cons:
expensive
(i bought on a winter-sale , don`t pay the price from the list)

@matthew: Nice blog !!! :D

Hi,

Well i think a tent hast to be able to stand even without hooks. You might want to put it up on a farry deck or in someons ware house if its raining outside.
I quickly googeled your tent brand but the pictures i saw dont look like you want to but it up and break down every day. Rather use a normal Iglu Tent

Iglu Zelt Kuppelzelt Campingzelt 2 3 4 Personen | eBay

and leave the two front sticks at home. The inside tent of my Iglutent is like a moskito net so if its hot i can use it without the hot rain cover.

Exped Venus

Hi,

I have an Exped Venus II, not very happy with it: BOTH entrance zippers started malfunctioning after about 50 nights of average use. (The zippers are unbranded, so no YKK or anything like that).
They provide replacement zipper-shoes with the tent, but I expect a lot more from a 400-Euro tent.

I have a Venus II from Exped. Nice, lightweight tent. Easy to set up and down. Like it but I find it a bit keeps me cold in 8 C.

Not for extreme weather conditions. Especially snow.
