What are the hardest wearing tyres for the 1150GS?

Title says it all really. I reckon the Bridgestone Trailwings wear fastest - what wears slowest?

Sounds good. Have you compared them with the others?

Nic

I've just ridden two up (550 kilos+)from Jordan to Katmandu on TKC80's. Don't know the exact distance as the speedo's bust but it's safe to say it's an effing long way. Not only did the tyres endurance surprise me but there grip, even in the wet, was astounding. Right handy if you encounter 'dirty' conditions as well.

Furthermore, Continental, makers of the TKC, do a special deal for GS club members. Check out www.gsclubuk.com, membership is free.

Bloody hell Goose, how did you manage that? My rear TKC80 has got only 2mm of knobs left after only 1000 miles! Admittedly that's included two rallies and an enduro, and a few hundred road miles at half pressure. But even so...

I usually get 15,000+ out of my Tourances, but discovered that when carrying a full load, and with pre-load near max, they wear much more quickly.

Also, they really don't give much grip on grass/mud - picture me flying over the handle bars at first attempt to use them off-road! Trailwings give better grip off-road, but i managed to get through one of those in 3000 miles - could get rather expensive.

Nic,
Your tyres are wearing out too fast because you are a hooligan and have taken up with bad company, Mssrs. Keenan and Blez. par example;-)))
Try Tourances with pressures F 38psi R 42psi and marvel at the grip and mileage, don't however go off-road for any reason if it if wet as they are next to useless in mud.
Also DON'T lend your bike to journos!!!!!!
Pat.
p.s. Is the shock fixed?

nick_horley 13 Oct 2002 18:05

Hmmm. I think I should send my tyre bill to these hooligans, as well as the bill for the shock. The remains of which are still firmly wedged between the swing arm and the wheel, thanks to the bulk of Blezard's backside.
