I am currently in love with my 2016 f700gs and i traded my 2014 g650gs for a way better bike for the Colombian experience
august 2017 i purchased my first road bike a g650gs and did a bunch of trips in Colombia, what a charming place to have a moto, the beauty never ends
I drove 7000 kn in 4 months on my 650 when i had days off and enjoyed every km, so i decided after 4 mo. on the 650 it was time to upgrade and found a super deal for a 700 with a trade and more cash, the deal was done in Medellin and i rode away with a 700 and it is a completely different machine power and torque makes a big difference in Colombia you need it to take out the trash, meaning shitty drivers that have adopted the worst skills on the planet and believe me it is bad
in one day in a small city in Colombia i can witness more traffic infractions than i will see in Canada in one year! Colombians are lunatics when they are on the road
I like the appeal of the 850 loaded and of course 95 ponies out of a twin cyl.

I like the F850GS tubeless tyres, new frame and rear suspension but don't like TFT screen and still lack of front suspension adjustments.

For a travel bike, the more gadgets and technology you have, the more likely you're going to end up stranded with massive repair bills.

If you get one, get the most basic model.. ESA always goes wrong and the shock is £1500 etc.

The 850 is an all new engine.

I don't trust ANYTHING new. Don't be a test dummie.

The 850 is also going to be against some very stiff competition with the new 790 KTM and the Yamaha T7.

When you say the 850 is an all new engine, isn't it a bored and stroked (84/77mm) version of the previous BRP Rotax (82/75.6mm) engine?

But I do concur with the general warning about being a test dummy. I suffered mega time for my purchase of what was then the brand new F650GS twin. Chains, rear axle bearing, ignitions problems and much more.
