Temp warning keeps coming on my F650GS Dakar
 

Morning All,
The temperature warning light has started to come on my bike, that last few weeks. Doesn't seem to be any real correlation to when I've been riding a long time in the heat / traffic etc so seems strange.

Anyone else got an experience of these or any ideas what the issue might be?

Duff sensor?
Duff rad cap?
When was the last time you flushed the system?

Haha good shout Bertrand! Dave is always my fail safe option.. And yes you're probably right just needs a good service.

Check for coolant loss (possible the water pump seal failed, you can see a tell tale coolant mess at the water pump) We had no end of overheating issues on our recent big trip (Arg - Alaska) . Bleeding the system is a right PITA but neccessary to do it right.
Also check the fan is coming in when it should (another common problem) With a GS911 you can run a fan test and check the temp in real time.
